Maybe you guys should make like giveaways or lotteries and stuff to pull in more donations?

Perhaps there could be insight into customizing the game itself or for a team to start on translations?...

I think the Mirc thing was a really cool idea, but perhaps it could go further!... maybe more forum themes...

or more smilies, I have a really cool set of poring smilies if u want them i can send em to a moderator or something and they can uplaod something... but just as an example ill show u what i mean... just uh...

These smilies are from eAthena, made by Usako... I like them, and I use some in my IM client... They're nice.

The translation thing didn't start yet, but there is a way to partially translate the game into English(I think, never tried it before), by replacing some file in your DATA folder... The thread can be found here...

As for the lottery/giveaway thing, I have no comment....

I like the idea, but for now. We can not invest more money into the boards, we can barely afford the hosting we have now. I end up paying for it month to month, which is not bad. I have a feeling some day godaddy will sooner or later kick us to the curb, forums of this size use ALOT of server resources.

have you guys considered hosting your own computer as a file server?...
If you cant pay the money, perhaps if you had a spare computer lying around (and if you have like cable or a really fast DSL) you could set up an FTP and Http server on your own pc... I mean if its just to host a forums... I am sure that your bandwith could be enough... its not like we're downloading any Major files from the Forum's host itself... and... Ill see what I can do to help the community and see if I can pitch in a buck or two... Ill half to find out how to use my gift cards (they've got like 200? maybe total on em) so ill look around for spare change and stuff XD...

how much are you paying for each month anyways?...... If there was a countdown or something for amount of money needed for each month... maybe people would be more willing to contribute a bit or more here and there to keep everything flying smoothly?

You guys have any other method of transfer besides paypal... I have a bad history with them X_X... (not that thier a bad company or anything... just that it was like 2 years ago and I had no idea how a credit card worked so I registered using an alias I had back then... and now they cant delete my account because they said that my alias has to be present to delete teh account but HE DOESNT EXIST so now a completely useless backed up account will be on the Paypal website forever, and I cant register a new account because my name will be overlapping as well as address/everything else... T_T)

As for hosting the forums our self, that would never work. We get over 7 million hits a week, a basic DSL or Cable line could never handle that. Plus we have a 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Also, the hosting bill is $14.99 a month. We also need to look into VPS and Dedicated Servers. We, will not be able to sit on a shared hosting server for long. Forums use allot of server resources, with almost 2,000 other sites on this server, I have a feeling GoDaddy will not be to happy with the resources we use 24/7.

As for using anything besides Pay Pal, not for now. Pay Pal also allows you to use just the credit card number. You also should be able to delete that account by yourself after you log into it.

Yea... tried, didn't work T_T........ Paypal says... you HAVE to have your alias there... but the loophole is frustratingly retarded haha... Ill look at that...

AS for a dedicated host... i am sure that will speed things up by a lot but the cost will be anywhere around 150 dollars a month... if you decide to do that, I think a countdown timer for how much money left would be a good idea... or open up a billing address so peopel can send cash... unless your crazy rich ! that'd be nice XD.

I thought about a Flash Drive give away for someone who designed a nice front page portal deal, or a new forum skin. Though I am looking into someone who can do that for us. He did the Official ROSE Online Forums for the Philippians.

you mean like a front page site where you have to click to enter kind of thing? and for a forum skin, isnt this skin good, i like it myself, i think everyone likes it i think.
