This is an English translation patch for Ragnarok Battle Offline.

ONLY compatible with Extra Scenario Volume 3.
If you install it with a different RBO version, it is likely to crash or freeze.

Yes, just extract to RBO folder and if a file already exists, overwrite.

What If I placed the Ex1 Ex2 Ex3 on a separate folder...? But... the only thing the other icons translate are the config right?

So if I only copy the Data folder... it still translates it right...?

I guess if you extract it to Ex3's folder, it will probably work.
I've not tried without them all in the same folder though.

Hm... cuz i dont have the installer anymore... so if I commit a mistake... download mode again... *sigh* probably will make a copy of the RBO folder before I try pasting.... thank you Sara-chan!!! I pasted this on my Ex3 folder, and it works...
Though personally, I suggest to make backup of 'will be overwritten' files first...

First paste the patch zip file into your Ex3 folder [contain rbo_ex3.exe inside it]...
Right click the file and choose extract here...



It will ask if U want to overwrite some files...
It's up to U if U want to create backup first or not, and choose yes to overwrite afterwards...
Run rbo_ex3.exe as usual...

What kind of patch is this, and what all does it do. I only caught a jist of it, I can move it to the new patches folder I made if you want. From what I have reach it is basically a English configuration patch.

It translates the entire game to english except for some of the lobby menus/text and the text in a couple of arena missions.
It does, however, INCLUDE english configuration.
(My own, rather than the other one on the download portal.)

Hope this can help explaining what kind of translation Sara-chan's patch do...

I downloaded the patch, and it's really helpful. There's one thing though, I don't know if it's happeneing to others, but this is it. Ever since I downloaded it, My Rbo_Ex3 is slower than ever. Sorry if this bothers you or something. Thanks

People who are having trouble/have had trouble with my patch:
Can you please post a bit of information with me?

Firstly, what problem is occuring, where, when, what sort of character, etc.
Also...

Which version of RBO was installed (RBO, Ex1, Ex2, Ex3)...
What language settings you have on your computer...
(If you don't know, just tell me what country you're in, since the settings are most likely default)...

Also, if you installed any other patches...
And, if applicable, which.

Lastly, if anyone has tried this patch on the chinese, korean, etc versions of RBO, I need to know this.

This is for the sake of debugging, fixing, and improving the patch.

I'd also like to hear these things from those who have used it without problems.
It would help me get an idea of when it works and when it doesn't.

I use 2 type of your translation...
Only the skill name at home, and complete translation at office...
The version I run is v4.000, Extra Scenario vol.3, with no other patch other than yours...
I didn't play much except one stage for time attack purpose lately, but I do watch some replays of several other stages...
So far, it worked correctly...

I'm using WinXP Professional (5.1, Build2600), no service pack IIRC...
General language is English, East Asian language support installed, non-unicode programs language is Japanese...
Almost every backslash appears as Japanese Yen sign in my Windows...
RBO can run correctly eventhough I use Japanese text as RBO folder names...
I installed each version [original & expansions] in a seperate folder and paste your patch to Ex3 folder only...

Not sure if any one is still here to help but is there anyway to fix a bug in this patch. Everytime I move to a different screen a error comes up saying "rbo has encountered an error and has to close. We are sorry for the inconvience" It happens no matter what map or character I use. I've had to uninstall to get it work again last time. Don't really want to loss my work again.

Anyway I extracted the patch files into the rbo folder under C:/program file/rbo. It told mr to overwrite 2 files. Is this all I needed to do?

Yes, only overwrite those 2 files...
I suggest taking backup first before overwriting it though, so we can restore it easily...
And in case of reinstall, U can backup your "SaveData" folder and restore it after installing...

BTW, have U test if your RBO run normally without applying Sara-chan's patch ???

Yeah it works fine with out the patch. I played about a day or so before I stumbled upon this patch. Sadly I have already installed the patch and I forgot to back up my files. Now I'm mad with myself but I guesss ill get over it.

hmm...very weird things happening here..i open ex3.....but i dunno open it...i show where the folders are, running in compatibility of win98...then, when all are choose, NUTTIN happens.

Actually Sara-chan wrote this in the top post, but most of us, including me, might missed it...

Patch updated.
This should improve a few things and it also eases uninstallation considerably.
I'm also looking for a translator proficient in Japanese to help me refine the patch.

Expect version 9 sometime next month, either way, with some of the stuff that's missing.

Tried installing, playing a bit, uninstalling, and everything works normally...
LOL at "What this Patch Doesn't Do" list...

About translating itself, I'm not sure I can help much since I can only read a bit...

Whenever I patch it, I use my RBO folder, No Expansions, and it screws up my map that shows where the stages are, and when i get to like area 3 of stage 1 it closes my game with an error. Is there anyway to fix this? Ive uninstalled over n over.

There are similar cases before...
For now, I assume it only works for Ex3...

You can't use it in the rbo folder you MUST place it at the 3rd expansion folder and it'll work fine.

Btw, just two minor things, the box message you get when you're killed is coming out completely black and novice's skill is First aid(or F.aid) not Fill =p

The Novice skill says "Fill"? Really?

Wow, I must have been half-asleep if I did that.
"First Aid" and "Play Dead" were already what I planned on using for those, as it should be.

These issues are already fixed and will be in version 9 of the patch.
Version 9 is looking much better than version 8, but I want to get a better translator before I release it.

(At that rate, version 10 could be the 100% complete patch.)

About translation, there are some letter "w" in some character's dialog box...
I thought it might be a white space or maybe triple dots...
I wonder if it's on my PC only...

Wow, that's amaizing!! First, excuse my english, I'm chilean, and my english sucks... but, 'bout this, translating the game to english is a great idea.
'cuz the game in japanese is a headache >_>:
you have to search in internet the skills, their traslations to play the game, etc.
I'll test you patch Sara-chan, but I'm sure that it will works.

Normal. I haven't changed the text to suit American audiences.
w is sort of an emoticon in Japan, think of the shape of a Poring's mouth.
You see it a lot on Final Fantasy XI also.
If you play the original game you'll see that they are there too.

Your Extra Scenario 1 isn't up to date, I believe.
But you should use Extra Scenario 3 with this patch, nothing earlier.
If you use an earlier version it is -very- likely to cause problems instead.

I still believe that the "w" is a type of "lol" in Japan, not necessarily a mouth. My friend plays a lot of Final Fantasy XI (almost since it came out), so i wouldn't suspect him of lying about such of thing. Maybe try asking a FFXI board for a confirmation? XD

It's not a 'lol', I'm afraid, even if many people would see it that way.
They have various expressions that simply don't have an equivilant for us.
"Orz" would be a big one for example. Meant to indicate someone bowing for forgiveness.
